AirVenture 2019

We will hold our annual NATA membership meeting during EAA's AirVenture in July, the largest annual gathering of aviation enthusiasts. This year we will also celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Trojan!

NATA activities at AirVenture will include:

All week: T-28 static display (bring your aircraft whether you fly formation or not).  See Scavenger Hunt info below.

Monday evening until the air show Tuesday: Warbird alley (ramp just south of Warbird merchandise) will feature different T-28 models in authentic markings for many of the roles in which they served: USAF and Navy Trainers, Combat, and specialty.

Sunday: T-6 Mass arrival from Dubuque, plus other warbird arrivals. Todd Winemiller will lead T-6 flight. There is a FREE warbird picnic at 6pm in the Nature Center Pavillion (near the museum). All warbird pilots are invited to this annual event.

Monday: T-28 mass formation arrival during warbird air show, led by Doug Hulse.

Tuesday 10am: Warbirds in Review will feature NATA members and their Trojans, with historically accurate displays. Pilots who flew these aircraft in military service will tell their stories. Please plan to attend this event, hosted by EAA Warbirds of America (WOA) and sponsored by NATA.

Tuesday Air Show:  NATA will celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Trojan during the warbird portion of the air show. The celebration will showcase the T-28 Texan and all NATA aircraft types. If you wish to participate in one of these elements, contact the element flight leader: Thursday am: Safety forums (locations and times to be announced)

Thursday 1-3pm: Annual Membership Meeting at Warbirds Briefing Building. Catered picnic buffett lunch (Brats, Burgers, BBQ) FREE to NATA members courtesy of Airmotive Specialties (nominal fee collected at door for non-members, cash only). Agenda will include update of new Regional Events, 2019 scholarships, other important announcements, and election of NATA directors. Door prizes worth $8,500, including a Grand Prize valued at $4,000. Must be present to win. Details below.

Thursday Air Show: T-28's fly again in celebration of their 70th Anniversary.

Happy Hour: Camaraderie and refreshments every day at NATA HQ (maps and directions below)

Preparing for AirVenture:
Warbirds Scavenger Hunt. From NATA member Vic Krause... "Building on the last year's success, the Warbirds Scavenger Hunt will receive substantial media promotion before and during AirVenture 2019. This is certain to drive a lot of youth participation. They will be scouring the warbirds complex to fill in autographs and aircraft data to complete their aircraft identification chart. And by doing so, win some cool aviation swag prizes.

"This encounter provides a great opportunity for our warbird community to positively impact this young, enthusiastic group of contestants. This connection should produce fun for the pilots, crews, and the Scavengers as they pursue autographs, N-numbers and aircraft names to fill in their charts. Have a Sharpie ready and prepare to be immortalized on some young fan's aircraft I.D. chart. Use this opportunity to participate with these youngsters (and maybe some oldsters) and generate some lasting memories and valuable goodwill!"
